Irish Sporthorse Studbook All-Ireland Young Show Person 2021

 Mon, 12th Jul, 2021

We are delighted  that (with a little help from good neighbours), we were stage the Irish Sporthorse Studbook All-Ireland Young Show Person Competition this year, Sponsored by Horse Sport Ireland. This fantastic competition, with a prize-fund of €1400 took place on Sunday 11th July at Cork Showgrounds, by kind permission of Cork Summer Show.

Despite the short notice and the difficulties posed by the Covid-19 situation, we had an excellent entry of nine superb handlers. In the week that saw the 25th anniversary of the Spice Girls releasing the iconic Wannabe, girl power is still going strong and we had an all female line-up.

The nine young women were well and truly put through their paces by judge, Siobhán Madden, who was very impressed by the overall standard of the competition.

Aim of Class:

The Young Show Person Championship is open to exhibitors aged from 16 to 23 years. This is a key age to keep young people engaged in showing and in the general sport horse industry.
